Crush Test!
Some people see a clear chair and its glass like finish and they think it’s fragile. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our ProClear Chiavari Chairs are incredibly tough and built to last. But how strong are they really? We crushed this beautiful chair to find out.
As you can see in the test, we applied over 1,000 pounds of downward force and the chair didn’t flinch. We kept adding more downward force all the way to 2,000 pounds and the chair remained intact. Finally, at over 2,100 pounds you can hear an audible pop at the back of the chair. Even then, there was no catastrophic damage or collapse of the chair. We continued to add downward force to nearly 3,000 pounds and it never collapsed. That’s more weight than a manatee.
Officially, we’re rating the chair with a static weight capacity of 2,000 pounds. That’s a full ton and more than 2x the payload capability of a half-ton pickup truck. So not only is our ProClear Chiavari incredibly beautiful, but it’s surprisingly strong and rugged.
