We invested nearly $50,000 for a precision-calibrated crusher that applies up to 5,000 pounds of downward force.  Why?  We were tired of the wild claims all over the Internet on the weight capacity of so many chairs.  So we’re putting our money where our mouth is, testing every chair, and sharing the video test results with you. This will help us to find opportunities to strengthen our chairs even further.  And it also shows you how much engineering we put behind every chair we build.

As you can see in the results above, our WoodGrain Resin Folding Chair received over 1,100 pounds of downward force before it finally reached its failure point.  (That’s more than weight than a male Grizzly Bear.)  That’s one tough folding chair.

The failure occurred at the seat.  Underneath the seat is a galvanized steel rod that holds the two front legs together and also keeps the seat up.  After 1,100 pounds, the seat finally broke just in front of the steel rod.  The steel rod didn’t break.  The legs didn’t break.  The seat is designed to flex at heavier weights.  Finally, it broke at over 1,100 pounds.

1,000 lb Weight Capacity
